Abstract

This research explores the application of Spark AR technology to introduce the Minangkabau Suntiang a cultural symbol and hallmark of Minangkabau identity, traditionally worn by brides (anak daro) in the region. Knowledge and understanding of the Suntiang remain limited, particularly among the younger generation, including those within the Minangkabau community itself. Consequently, this study leverages Augmented Reality (AR) technology via Spark AR to create an interactive digital experience, allowing users to virtually "wear" and learn about the Minangkabau Suntiang through platforms such as Instagram. The development process for this filter encompasses data collection, design, implementation, and testing. A prototyping approach was employed, featuring 2D representations of the Suntiang alongside relevant information. This research aims to demonstrate that Spark AR technology can serve as an effective tool for enhancing knowledge and education regarding Minangkabau culture specifically the Suntiang. Furthermore, it holds the potential to promote cultural heritage and education through digital media.
